Actual Play Festival Prizewinners!

APF Night

This year, we are awarding three Goatees for Best Recording in three different categories: Best Recording of a New Published or Unpublished Product, Best Recording of a Non-North American Product, and Best Recording of the Festival. (We call our awards the Goatees because Actual Play Festival was founded by Josh T. Jordan, owner of the story game publisher, Ginger Goat.)

And the winners are…

The Goatee for Best Recording of a New Published or Unpublished Product goes to Rolling Intentions Podcast for their recording, Spirit of ’77 Session 1, based on the 2014 game Spirit of ’77 by Monkeyfun Studios. This award comes with the following prizes: a copy of Slash by Games by Playdate, Project Ninja Panda Taco by Jennifer Steen, Doll by Josh T. Jordan at Ginger Goat, and Posthuman Pathways by Jason Pitre at Genesis of Legend Publishing.

The Goatee for Best Recording of a Non-North American Game goes to GM Chugosh for his recording, BrigadeCon! Adventures in the Slipstream!, based on the Slipstream supplement for Savage Worlds. Slipstream is by British designer Paul Wade-Williams. This award comes with the following prizes: a copy of Slash by Games by Playdate, Project Ninja Panda Taco by Jennifer Steen, Doll by Josh T. Jordan at Ginger Goat, and Centurion by Fraser Ronald at Swords Edge Publishing.

The Goatee for Best Recording of the Festival goes to Indie+ for their recording, Inspectres, based on the game of the same name by Memento Mori Theatricks. This award comes with the following prizes: a copy of the DVD and CD of the comedy album, This Will Make an Excellent Horcrux, by Jackie Kashian, the board game Bru-Tiki by Andy Ashcraft, Project Ninja Panda Taco by Jennifer Steen, Doll by Josh T. Jordan at Ginger Goat, and a private storytelling lesson with Kevin Allison at the Story Studio.

Best Recording of a New Published or Unpublished Product awards the recording of a story or roleplaying session based on a work that is either new for this contest or has been published this year. Best Recording of a Non-North American Product awards the recording of a story or roleplaying session authored by or based on the work of someone not native to the US, Canada, or Mexico. The Best Recording of the Festival awards the recording that Josh Jordan subjectively judges most represents the spirit of Actual Play Festival, in that it is inclusive, diverse, and fun for both the participants and the audience. Each of these Goatee Awards comes with prizes kindly donated by our sponsors. Winners of the awards have until January 15th to email josh@actplayfest.org with their preferred email and mailing address. If they have not submitted a mailing address by that time, we will donate the prizes as we see fit.

Thank you again to all the participants in ActPlayFest 2014.
